What is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

The best time to visit Kathmandu is from late September to December due to the vistas of pristine glaciers and local festivals. During these months, the place remains dry and appropriate for exploration and trekking. The temperature in October in Nepal ranges from degrees Celsius to 14 degrees Celsius. Another good time to visit Kathmandu is during the month of March and April since the temperature regularly rises and spring steps in. Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

  • Arrive in Kathmandu and check into your hotel.
  • Rest and recover from your journey.
  • In the evening, take a leisurely stroll around the Thamel area, known for its vibrant atmosphere, shops, and restaurants.
  • Dinner at a local Nepali restaurant.

Day 2Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)

  • Morning visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to explore the ancient palace complex, courtyards, and temples.
  • Lunch in a nearby restaurant.
  • Afternoon visit to Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, offering panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley.
  • Explore the stupa, shrines, and the resident monkey population.
  • Return to the hotel for the night.

Day 3Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa

  • Morning visit to Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu site. Explore the temple complex and observe the cremation ghats along the Bagmati River.
  • Lunch in the vicinity.
  • Afternoon visit to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in Nepal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the surrounding monasteries and shops.
  • Return to the hotel for the night.

Day 4Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Departure

  • Morning drive to Bhaktapur, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its medieval architecture and well-preserved heritage.
  • Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Nyatapola Temple, and other cultural landmarks.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Bhaktapur.
  • Return to Kathmandu in the afternoon.
  • Depending on your departure time, you may have some free time for last-minute shopping or relaxation.
