Your journey to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins from an early bus to Pokhara from Kathmandu on a tourist bus. Pokhara is the tourist capital of Nepal, and we are doubtless in which you will be fascinated by the beauty of Pokhara. From Pokhara (820 m/2,690 ft), you can catch great vistas from a lot of peaks and amazing lakes.
The second day starts with a drive from Pokhara via Birethanti (1039 m/ 2,250 ft) to Tikhedhunga and real trekking begins from Tikhedhunga, from where we take a trail which crosses by paddy fields together with the Modi River to reach Ulleri (1,540 m / 5,050 ft)- the location for this day.
The next day’s Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes you to Ghorepani (2,860 m/9,385 ft). Ghorepani offers amazing vistas of Mt Annapurna massifs, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Dhampas, Nilgiri, Barash Sikhar, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
The fourth day will be exceptional, since on this day you will arrive at the popular Poon Hill Viewpoint itself. To make the most out of Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,525 ft), we will wake up early in the morning and trek to Poon Hill to catch the dawn breaking at more than 32 ranges of the Annapurna, together with Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. After saturating in the grand sceneries from Poon Hill, we move to Tadapani (2,630 / 8,630 ft) for the night.
After a night at Tadapanil, early morning, you will leave Tadapani for Chomrong (2,165 m / 7,10 ft). The track takes you through Ghandruk, which descends to the Kimron River, and you will carry on the trek to Chomrong. Chomrong is a famous overnight stop for ABC trekkers. The next day you will trek to Himalaya (2,890 m / 9,435 ft) and on the seventh day, you will leave Himlaya and trek to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC). You will have great views from ABC and you will be spending the night at the Base Camp itself.
The next day will take you out of Annapurna Sanctuary as you retrace our steps out of Modi River Valley to a serene point called Bamboo, where you will stay for the night. On the tenth day you will leave Jhinu Danda to reach Ghandruk Phedi /Siwa, we will drive you to Pokhara via Nayapul. And on the last day you will spend a night at Pokhara and next day you will return back to Kathmandu by a tourist bus. Best time to trek for Annapurna Base Camp Trek
From mid-September to November (autumn) and March to May (spring) are the best seasons to trek to Annapurna Base Camp. June to August (monsoon) are the rainy months but this time is best for keen botanists and has clear sky at times. During the trek, it provides grand spectacles of blooming rhododendron flowers at the time of months of March, April and May. the view of Mt. Dhaulagiri through the rising sun shining on it is one of the superb vistas of this trek. At the highlight of this trek you will climb Poon Hill at dawn to experience one of the most brilliant peaks vistas on the Earth.
As the sun touches the snow-capped summits the Himalayan Giants, (Dhaulagiri 8,167 m) and Annapurna (8,091 m), amidst a lot of other mountains, slowly become observable magically prior to your eyes. This trek provides great chances to experience the beauty of the Annapurna region through a limited short period of trekking. If you would like to escape the crowd then it is advised to trek in winter (December – February). The temperature is cold in the mornings but not unendurable and it is warm during day hikes and clear sky with magnificent view most of the days.

Will I get altitude sickness on the trek to Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Altitude sickness, also known as acute mountain sickness (AMS), is a potential concern for trekkers ascending to higher elevations, including those undertaking the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek. The highest point on the ABC Trek is Annapurna Base Camp itself, which is at an elevation of around 4,130 meters (13,550 feet).

The risk of altitude sickness varies from person to person, and factors such as the rate of ascent, duration of exposure, and individual susceptibility can influence its onset. It’s essential to be aware of the symptoms of altitude sickness, which can include headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arriving in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, trekkers are immersed in the rich cultural atmosphere of Nepal. After being transferred to their hotel, they attend a trek briefing, receive necessary permits, and have the opportunity to explore the bustling streets of Thamel.

Day 2Drive or Fly to Pokhara

The journey continues to the serene city of Pokhara, either by a picturesque drive or a short, scenic flight. Nestled beside the tranquil Phewa Lake, Pokhara provides a perfect prelude to the trek.

Day 3Drive to Nayapul, Trek to Tikhedhunga

The adventure officially begins with a drive to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. The trail meanders through terraced fields and traditional villages, leading to the quaint settlement of Tikhedhunga.

Day 4Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

Ascending through dense rhododendron forests and charming villages, trekkers conquer the steep staircase of Ulleri. The day culminates in the picturesque village of Ghorepani, offering panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

Day 5Ghorepani to Poon Hill and Tadapani

An early morning hike to Poon Hill presents a breathtaking sunrise panorama. Afterward, the trek continues to Tadapani through lush forests and rhododendron-covered trails.

Day 6Tadapani to Chhomrong

The trail descends through forests and crosses a river before ascending to the Gurung village of Chhomrong. The terraced fields and stunning mountain views make this village a captivating stop.

Day 7 Chhomrong to Bamboo

Descending to Chhomrong Khola, the trail climbs to Sinuwa and traverses bamboo and rhododendron forests. Bamboo, situated in a serene location, serves as the day’s destination.

Day 8 Bamboo to Deurali

The trek continues through enchanting forests, revealing captivating glimpses of Machapuchare and the surrounding peaks. Deurali, nestled in a high-altitude alpine setting, provides a memorable stop.

Day 9 Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp

Ascending through the majestic Machapuchare Base Camp, trekkers reach the awe-inspiring Annapurna Base Camp. Surrounded by towering peaks, including Annapurna I, the highest in the range, trekkers revel in the breathtaking mountain amphitheater.

Day 10Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo

After a memorable stay at Annapurna Base Camp, the return journey begins. Trekking back through bamboo forests, trekkers descend to Bamboo for a well-deserved rest.

Day 11Bamboo to Jhinu Danda

The trail descends through Chhomrong to Jhinu Danda. Here, trekkers can relax in natural hot springs, rejuvenating their bodies after the trek.

Day 12 Jhinu Danda to Nayapul, Drive to Pokhara

The final day of trekking leads to Nayapul, followed by a scenic drive back to Pokhara. Trekkers can explore Pokhara or simply unwind by the lakeside.

Day 13Drive or Fly Back to Kathmandu

The journey concludes with a return to Kathmandu, either by a scenic drive or a short flight, allowing time for reflection on the remarkable experiences of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

Day 14 Departure

Depart from Kathmandu, carrying cherished memories of the trek amidst the spectacular Annapurna range.
